He has been a senior manager of strategic communications programs that today are considered among the most groundbreaking and effective in recent industry history. He co-founded Hillenby in 2010, and today serves as the firm’s CEO. Rob specializes in helping companies manage the complexities that come with operating in today’s increasingly cluttered and activist public environment.

Rob spent the first decade of his career serving as a speechwriter and communications aide to state and national elected officials, including U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, M.D., Virginia Governor and Republican National Committee Chairman Jim Gilmore and U.S. Senator John Warner. He helped craft the words and messaging around significant policy issues, such as stem cell research, direct-to-consumer advertising and global HIV/AIDS, and around major events ranging from the biennial opening of the U.S. Senate to Virginia’s crisis response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
In 2005, Rob joined the Washington, D.C. office of Edelman, the largest independent public relations firm in the world. There he worked as global client relationship manager for the firm’s prestigious Walmart account, coordinating and helping execute crisis communications, reputation management, investor relations and consumer public relations programs in Asia, Central America and the United States. At Edelman, he also established and led a team that provided elite communications services to senior executives at Fortune 10 companies and their respective trade associations.
